Located only 20 minutes from Grenoble city centre, at an altitude of 1326 m, in the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park, the Col de Porte is a family resort, a real adventure and discovery area for nature lovers and winter sports enthusiasts. The resort will host La Grande Odyssée VVf during the 10th stage on Wednesday 18th January 2023.

Through this article, dive into the heart of the resort.

The Col de Porte is part of Grenoble-Alpes Métropole, which makes it one of the most popular resorts for its inhabitants, at weekends, during the holidays and even between midday and midnight. It is a perfect illustration of one of the assets of Grenoble Alpes: to combine the urban and the natural, to pass easily and quickly from the city to the mountain.
The Col de Porte is also attracting more and more outside visitors in search of authenticity and a smaller resort. In winter, the site is ideal for learning snow activities. In addition to the downhill ski slopes, it offers Nordic skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing routes. The rest of the year, the resort is transformed into an outdoor playground with its biathlon stadium, its ski wheel courses, its mountain bike, trail and hiking circuits. All of these practices coexist and cooperate with pastoralism and the development of meaningful businesses, moving in the direction of a more eco-responsible and environmentally friendly 4-season tourism.

The Col de Porte offers a sporting, soothing or contemplative interlude in preserved natural areas. It is surrounded by 3 summits:

  • Chamechaude: to the east, it is the highest point of the Chartreuse massif (2,082 m)
  • Le Charmant Som: to the north, easily accessible, it is the ideal summit to climb with the family in summer and with snowshoes in winter
  • La Pinéa: to the west, recognisable by its pointed shape, its rocky summit offers a 360° panorama of the massif and the Grenoble metropolis

The station is accessible by public transport from the centre of Grenoble (bus line 62 of the MTag network).
