Opening Ceremony – 9/01/2021 – Samoëns

On exceptional circumstances, exceptional 17th Edition of la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc!

This dog race is a unique experience to make everyone dream: 12 intensive days which covers 400 kilometers and 12000 kilometers of positive elevation range at an average speed of 20 kilometers an hour.

This leading musher venue will run in camera this year, and took place for this first day in Samoëns, more precisely close to the Lac aux Dames.

Optimal conditions were met to make this Prolog Day Race a success: optimum snow conditions, sun shining and good moods.

After the indispensable veterinary control, the mushers brief, and the traditional 22 mushers parade, Annabel Lascar-Kam, President of the 17th Edition of la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc, gave the Prologue top start joined by Jean-Charles Mogenet, Mayor of Samoëns.

The 22 dog sled teams limited at 4 dogs due to icy ground completed the 2 kilometers loop close to the Lac aux Dames, the Prologue stage results being the basis of tomorrow starting list.  The Prologue winner is Rémy Coste and thus will be the last on the tomorrow stage starting line.

The 17th Edition of la Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc is declared officially opened.
