Today, the 6th stage of La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc started in Peisey-Vallandry. The 27 teams covered 30 kilometers with a positive difference in altitude of 610m on the Nordic trails. A small difference in altitude but an intense stage which took place with good track conditions.
All along the route, the mushers were able to discover the magnificent landscapes that led them to the gates of the Vanoise National Park through the hamlets of Beaupraz and Culaz. This stage was also marked by the last day of the IFSS (International Federation of Sled Sports) world cup.
In the OPEN category, the Frenchman Rémy Coste won this 6th stage in 01:18:48 and kept his place at the head of the general classification. Heinrich Winter finished second with a time of 01:19:55 followed by Sylvia Ulrich with a time of 01:22:00. In the LIMITED category, the Frenchwoman Aurélie Delattre finished the stage in 01:26:28 and took the first step of the podium. She wins against her main opponents, Cindy Duport who finishes this stage in 01:36:21 and Elsa Borgey in 01:46:39. A beautiful female podium.
The last stage of the Eukanuba Trophy was won by Carlos Franch who is the overall leader having completed the course in 01:32:12. Pierre Chaplain finished 24’40” later, which earned him the second place in the overall classification. Jocelyne Combazard finished third in the stage and in the general classification with a time of 02:14:51.
Tomorrow, the 7th stage in Pralognan-la-Vanoise should allow the musher and their dogs to express their full potential.
